Built for the moment you need it most.

HackFirstAid is a free, private, and calm recovery guide for anyone who has been hacked — built by someone who has spent 26 years helping organizations respond to the worst.

    The problem

When people are hacked, they are overwhelmed, panicked, and targeted by scammers posing as recovery services. Existing government resources are helpful but hard to navigate in a crisis — written for professionals, scattered across dozens of agencies, and impossible to act on at 2am when something has just gone wrong.

    What HackFirstAid does differently

Free, no login, no data collection, written in plain language. We cover 23 specific incident types — from a hacked email to financial sextortion — and walk you through exactly what to do right now, today, and this week. Your selections live only in your browser.

    About the creator

    Travis Barlow

Founder · 26 years in cybersecurity leadership

600+ incident-response engagements across financial services, healthcare, public sector, and critical infrastructure. Founder of AtlSecCon, Atlantic Canada's largest cybersecurity conference. Travis built HackFirstAid because most cyber tools are written for security teams — and most victims aren't on one. He kept seeing the same thing: people who had been hacked, desperately Googling for help, and finding either technical jargon or predatory "recovery" scams. This tool is his answer to that problem.

    Privacy commitment

We collect no personal data. Your recovery plan is built and stored entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
